The town of Stonehook is a small community outside of the major cities where
nothing interesting happens, ever. The Cliff family, consisting of father Joseph, mother
Amy, and eleven year old Billy are content with their secluded little town. Billy has built a
reputation at school for not being afraid of anything, and that means anything. The class
tissue box was placed on Billy’s desk in the event of another spider terrorizing the
classroom. During recess when all the other children fled at the sight of a bee, Billy
stood tall and allowed the bee to crawl on his arm for a few seconds before eventually
flying off. Billy wasn’t even afraid to look at his report card, the most ludicrous acts of
bravery.
Billy is forced to juggle the anxiety he faces talking to his crush Katy, the
animosity that continues to rise between him and his best friend Richard, and the
intimidation from a new bully that starts attending his school. Billy receives support from
his parents and is forced to learn how to manage his stress as he copes with growing
up and dealing with the complexity of his relationships. But Billy’s bravery is challenged
when a genuine threat to his safety does appear in Stonehook, more specifically his
front door.
